Basic Hand Rankings In Poker

When there is a tie in the showdown, the player that has the near to qualifying high ranking card is arrived at by considering the basic poker hands and the related value of each card. In cases when the number is the same in both hands, the suits are taken in to consideration.
Similarly, when the heads up players in the showdown are both having the highest ranked hand in a straight, where one holds the 8 high and the other holds the 9 high, the person that holds the 9 high straight will be awarded the pot because a 9 high straight is more in value than the 8 high straight. There can be situations when the players will have a couple of kings each and both might be competing for the pot, in such cases the winning will be determined by the value of the kicker.
When many players have similar ranking basic poker hands then the pot gets spilt between them all and there is no question of one going away with all the money in this case. If an equal splitting of the money is not possible, then the money that could not be slit easily is given as a dealer tip.
